A Recital for the Sunrise

A Recital for the Sunrise is a video document of a performance at River Front Park in KCMO, on March 28th 2016, at the first mark of light until sunrise, where in which a figure plays on the viola, Aveu passionné in E minor, by Tchaikovsky, until the entire picture plane is bathed in dawn. The recital is 30 minutes in total. The work reflects romantic philosophy, visual art and aesthetics. Nature is often portrayed as a mysterious unknown being that is much larger than us, thus being something not completely achievable to process. The performance ruptures awe and natural surrender by way of repetition and time, as the light begins to reveal the silhouetted figure as well as the environment surrounding of a shore filled with debris.
